What do you need to consider for a healthy diet? Nowadays, there are so many different diet forms so that you don't even know where to start. But a healthy diet can be so easy! You only need to eat in a balanced way to get all your macro- and micronutrients. A first impression gives my Healthy Recipes.
Our three macronutrients are carbohydrates, protein, and fat. The major function of carbohydrates is to give our body energy for its basal functions and also for physical activity. Furthermore, proteins do most of the work in cells and are required for the structure, function, and regulation of the body’s tissues and organs. At least, fat is an important depot for energy storage, offers insulation and protection, and plays important roles in regulating and signaling. With a balanced diet, you need to eat all of these nutrients.
Vitamins can be divided into two components: water-soluble vitamins and fat-soluble vitamins. Water-soluble vitamins travel freely through the body, and excess amounts usually are excreted by the kidneys. The body needs water-soluble vitamins in frequent, small doses. Fat-soluble vitamins on the other side, are stored in the body's cells and are not excreted as easily as water-soluble vitamins. They do not need to be consumed as often as water-soluble vitamins, although adequate amounts are needed. Furthermore, if you take too much of a fat-soluble vitamin, it could become toxic. So, you really need to be cautious with these vitamins. The dose makes the poison!
The body needs many minerals; these are called essential minerals. Essential minerals are sometimes divided up into major minerals (macrominerals) and trace minerals (microminerals). These two groups of minerals are equally important, but trace minerals are needed in smaller amounts than major minerals. But, a balanced diet usually provides all of the essential minerals. Nevertheless, you need to be aware of the different minerals and where they can be found!
